Congress passed health care reform and i am over joyed. I love the fact that insurance companies can't reject you because of pre-existing conditions.

But despite my joy, I am angered about fines forced on people because they don't buy health insurance.... Gee let me see, I know what will make health care change, I'll force you to get health care or fucking spank you with a $695 fine.

This just sounds like, no one will benefit from this but insurance companies - that's why their stocks are up. 32 million new clients just out weighs any losses from persons with terminal or pre-existing conditions.

Also, if you have over 50 employees, you have to provide health insurance or get fined $2, 000 per employee. I love this new idea, that we need to help our sick and old but we shouldn't punish people for not having health care, that's just as bad as not having health care.

For about 9 minutes today, I thought about sending in an application to be a fighter for the UFC. Chuck Liddell changed my mind. Then i realized Jeopardy is more my thing.

I used to be so sure of everything and, right now, I just feel completely confused and lost. Changing my major to do what I might want to really do would put me right back at square 1 in my college career.

Unless I just finally pick a minor.

Writer's Block: Going Greener

How could you better “green” your life? What’s holding you back?
The main way I would green my life is by buying reuseable canvas bags for groceries. I really keep those bags and use them for thrash- I learned that they hold trash in and don't let biodegradable things degrate. I know lesseing my beef and chicken intake would really lessen my impact on the earth. I know I can do more for this earth and the only thing that stops me is money; I can't buy the more expensive "green" items when I have to save money for books and gas.

Writer's Block: The Geneva Conventions & the War on Terror
Jeopardy

In 2002, the Bush Administration declared that the detainees of the War on Terror were not eligible for rights under the Geneva Conventions. Do you agree with the Bush Administration's decision? How might you have handled it differently?
I do think that the administration was correct in saying that enemy combatants were direct enemies of the state but the way they handled it was completly wrong. We should have never tortured people; our global standing, our credibility and our national security are now shattered and we are left picking up the pieces of our good name.

The largest flaw I would have fixed, had I been in charge of the administration, was to ensure that all persons in Guantanamo Bay Prison were correctly there. The mis-information obtained from prisoners there led us to go into Iraq; Bush screwed up on that front. Whatever it might have cost to make sure the information was correct sure would have been cheaper than the Iraq war.
